Okra Technologies ("we", "our", or "us") operates the Okra Rides mobile application (the "App"), a ride-hailing and delivery platform serving users in Zambia and beyond. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect your personal information when you use our App and related services.

By using Okra Rides, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of our App.

Information Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in the following limited circumstances:

We never share your precise real-time location with third parties outside of the service-delivery process described above.

Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. Trip records and transaction data are retained for a minimum of five (5) years to comply with financial record-keeping requirements under Zambian law.

When you request account deletion, we will delete or anonymise your personal information within 30 days, except where retention is required by law. For full details, please review our Data Deletion Policy.

Section 06

Location Data

Okra Rides requires access to your device's location to function. For riders, location is used to show available drivers and track your trip. For drivers, location is continuously shared while you are online to enable ride matching and to share your position with your rider.

You can disable location access in your device settings, but doing so will prevent the App from functioning. We do not track your location when the App is closed and you are not on an active trip.

Security

We implement industry-standard technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These include encrypted data transmission (TLS), access controls, and regular security reviews.

No method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at info@okrarides.com.

Children's Privacy

Okra Rides is not intended for use by persons under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If we become aware that a user under 18 has provided personal data, we will take steps to delete that information promptly. If you believe a minor has registered, please contact us at info@okrarides.com.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you via the App or by email before the changes take effect. The "Effective Date" at the top of this page indicates when the policy was last updated. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
